Classic Style

Keeping your palette muted and simple is key to creating a classic style. Add texture and warmth with woven fabrics. Plain velvets and linens work well to add interest and a feeling of timeless elegance. Don’t overdo pattern, stick to gentle calming florals teamed with smart stripes on sofas and curtains. Less is definitely more when creating a classic look.

Colourful Style

Colour instantly makes a home feel warm and inviting. A bold coloured sofa with bright cushions is a great way to add instant drama. Lampshades, lots of art, rugs and of course seasonal flowers continue the theme. I love cooking and entertaining too, so I always make sure my table is dressed with interesting crockery and flowers. Consider using plain colours for curtains or blinds, perhaps finished with a contrasting border along the leading edge, using colour this way can really help to anchor the whole look and accentuate the overall colour palette.

Eclectic Style

To create an eclectic layered up look, mix and match several patterns together throughout the room. Experiment with scale and colour. Cushions work particularly well jumbled up together in a mix of pattern and colour, embellished with pom poms and trims. I like to use a strong colour on the walls too and finish the scheme with a statement rug. The key here is not to think too hard about matching, just go for what you love, trusts your instinct and have fun!
